Kris "Coop" Cooper, a native of California relocated to Cody Wyoming with his wife Errin and son Jacob in 2000. He's an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hiking, backpacking, flyfishing, mountain biking, and camping - and always with the company of his dog.
In 1989 he attended The Wilderness Lodge Guide School in Montana. There Kris learned and applied the skills required for being a backcountry hunting and fishing guide: horsemanship, packing, outdoor safety and first aid.
In 1999 he obtained his Farrier Certification through Sierra College in Rocklin, California.
Kris spent several years as a Tree Trimmer - Line Clearance technician - enjoying the Sierra Nevada foothills & mountains as his "office".
He found his niche as a Heavy Equipment Operator with Nevada County Department of Transportation in 1995, and is currently working for Park County Road and Bridge Department as an Operator ll.
In 2005 Kris bought a handsome Australian Sheppard puppy, named him Scout, and set about training him for obedience, agility, and frisbee.  Scout has a great play drive and always gives 100% .
In 2006, Kris joined Park County Search and Rescue, and Scout made the transition to Search Dog training eagerly.
In May of 2007 Kris graduated 2nd in his class from Kirk Waggoneer's 'Basic Search and Rescue' at Northwest College in Powell.  He then became an "official" member of Park County SAR.  The same month, Scout "certified" in 'Cadaver Search' through TRI-STATE.  Scout is a wonderful companion, fast learner and really enjoys his "job".
The team of Kris and Scout spend lots of time hiking, backpacking and mountain biking in the Beartooth Mountains and look forward to challenges, search work and gaining new certifications.
